Why plaintiffs use them
Injury victims often face the worst of their expenses at exactly the point their income stops. Rent, treatment and household bills do not pause while a claim works its way through negotiation, and the pressure to accept the first offer on the table grows every month.
A settlement loan removes that pressure. It provides immediate relief so you can focus on recovery, and it gives your lawyer the runway to pursue the claim properly instead of settling early for less than the file is worth.
How we structure it
Our advisors take a deliberately conservative approach. The objective is that a substantial amount of money is still in your pocket when the file settles, which means keeping the advance proportionate to the claim and keeping borrowing costs down.
You can take the funds as a single lump sum, or as monthly instalments. Instalments significantly reduce the total cost of borrowing because you only draw what you actually need, when you need it.
Repayment
We do not expect repayment until the claim settles, which can take anywhere from several weeks to several years. At any point during the loan you can repay in full or make payments toward the balance without penalty.
